Pathological anatomy is a branch of pathology that deals with the diagnosis of diseases based on the study of macroscopic and microscopic changes in cells and tissues, which are caused by a pathological condition. The founding father of modern pathological anatomy is the Italian Giovanni Battista Morgagni. A branch that deals at a sub-microscopic level and adds to the data obtained by the methods of pathological anatomy is molecular biology.
